What does Minnesota require for food stand hand washing?
Minnesota special event food stands must provide hand washing with potable warm or tempered water, soap and paper towels, plus a container to catch wastewater. Hand sanitizer does not replace hand washing. Food stands should also be set away from portable toilets.

Does a portable hand washing station meet the rule?
A portable hand washing station with on-board fresh water, a foot pump, soap, paper towels and a gray water tank provides the water, soap, towels and wastewater catch the rule asks for. Your local health inspector makes the final call, so confirm with them when you apply.

How many stations does an event need?
Each food stand at a Minnesota event needs its own hand washing setup, placed where food workers can reach it without leaving the stand. For guests, plan 1 hand washing station per 4 portable toilets. A festival with 3 food stands and 12 toilets needs at least 6 stations in total.
